A milestone moment is approaching, as the Sidney Alumni Sports Hall of Fame celebrates its 20th Induction Weekend, Oct.13-14. Co-founder and chairman Greg Davie, ‘76, and his committee have been busy in preparation of an extra-special series of events to mark the 20th anniversary.

This event has always served a dual purpose – to honor the excellence of Sidney sports history and be a fundraiser for the school’s athletic department. Over the years, the fundraiser element has evolved to what is now a $750 seniorathlete scholarship. Tickets for the Saturday dinner at the Elks Lodge are $30, with kids 6-12 $12 and 5 and under free. By Reflections publication time, we hope tickets will still be available. Early response has been promising! Activities begin Friday night during the 7:00p.m. football game versus Schuyler at Alumni Field. Inductees,

Legends family members and Legacy Team members will be honored at halftime. The annual alumni social will be held at the VFW following the game. Saturday, a social hour commences at 5:00p.m., with seating at 6:00 and the buffet dinner starting by 6:15. There will be a brief local business/50-50 raffle before the inductions. The inaugural Legends inductions will begin the evening’s highlights. They will be represented by family members. Congratulations to: Ralph Barnard, ‘47, Don Doyle, ‘52, Bill Ray, ‘54, Andy DuMond, Sr., ‘55, and James Axtell, ‘59. The rest of the proceedings will be highlight Class of 2023 and Legacy Award recipients, the golf teams of 1983-‘84-’85, whose cumulative match record was 60-4-1. Being honored as inductees are: Steve McMullen, ‘65, Don Pierce, Jr., ‘84, Liz Eaton-Ferenzi, ‘00, Josh DuMond, ‘02, and Ashley Mahlmeister, ‘09. The SHOF committee hopes everyone who attends has a great time.
