SIDNEY - Continuing the celebration of its 10th Anniyarsary, the Sidney Central School Alumni Association has announced the schedule of events for the Annual All Alumni Reunion, July 18-20,2008.
On Friday, July 18, the Annual Alumni Golf Tournament will be held at the Sidney Golf and Country Club beginning at 7:30am. A barbecue for golfers. and their guests will start at 5:30pm at the club. Later in the evening an Icebreaker/Social will be held at the Sidney VFW beginning at 8pm. The social is open to all alumni and guests.
On Saturday, July 19, we will hold our annual Nature Walk at the Ed Roelle Nature Trill from 8 a.m. -10 a.m. and a Pancake Breakfast at the Sidney Elks Lodge from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. Tickets for the Breakfast can be purchased at the door.
At 11:00 a.m., classes will line up at Keith Clark Park for the ever popular March of the Classes which will begin at 11:30 a.m. On Saturday afternoon, there will be Open Houses at Alumni Center and the Historical Association from lpm until 4 p.m. and at the Sidney Senior High School from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Alumni Center and the Historical Association will also be open on Thursday, July, 17 and Friday, July 18 from loam until 2pm.
The first Annual Alumni Sand Volleyball Tournament will be held beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The tournament will be played at the Keith Clark Park Sand Courts and is open to all alumni, family and friends. Registration forms can be found on the website. You must register by July 14.
Saturday evening there will be a social at the Sidney VFW beginning at 8 p.m. Join us for an evening of music, dancing and fun. Many classes will be holding their reunion dinners on Saturday evening at various places in the area. All are invited to join us at the social after their own celebrations.
On Sunday morning we'll gather at 10:30 a.m. at the Ed Roelle Nature Trail to honor our departed classmates at the annual Memorial Service. Later the Annual All Class Reunion Luncheon, begun in 1988, will be held at the Sidney Firemen's Facility on River Street. The Wall of Fame for Distinguished Alumni and Faculty Induction Ceremony will take place during the Luncheon which begins with a social hour at 11 a.m. The buffet luncheon, catered by the Sidney Fire Department, will be served at 12:30 p.m. Reservations are required. Also taking place during the luncheon will be the drawing of the winning ticket for the Newport Coastal Villa Time Share. The Annual Weekend is only one of several activities planned for the Association during this special year. Earlier this month the SCSAA donated a scorer's table to the Athletic Department of SHS and also participated with a float in Sidney's Hometown Days Parade. In addition we will be presenting several scholarships at SHS graduation as we have done since 1999. Still to come is the Annual Sports Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony held during Homecoming Weekend. This year's date is October 3-4.
