To all SHS Alumni,
You are most certainly aware of the recent horrific events in Haiti. It would be hard to
ignore the suffering of the people of that country.
What you may not know is that one of our Alumni Community is currently working
in Haiti with Christian Service International. He is Bert Anderson, Class of 1966 and
he was recently featured in an article in Reflections in which he told of his work at a
medical clinic on the island of Haiti. The article is in the Spring, 2009 issue of
Reflections on our website www.sidneyalumni.org.
Bert and his wife, Roberta and most of their staff survived the earthquake and are
attempting to give aide to those in need. The last email received from the Andersons
indicated that they are working in difficult conditions outside of Port Au Prince and
are coping as best they can. We asked how we can help and Dennis Porter, one of
Bert's classmates, contacted Christian Service International directly for that
information.
Please follow the link to the emails from CSI and from the Andersons which will give you the information you need if you want to donate directly to the clinics that are run by CSI and the Andersons.
As we experienced in the Flood of 2006, Sidney Alumni are among the most generous
people we know. We hope that you will again be as generous in this instance in
helping the people of Haiti.
We hope to keep you updated with the Andersons’ status as we go along.
Thank you,
Terry Dermody
President, SCSAA
