Fred B. Videtto `28 studied pre-med for 3 years at
Syracuse University, graduated and, due to the great depression, found no
work for one and a half years. He went to work in Sales for Mobil Oil and
remained with the company for 38 years finally being in charge of all of
Mobil's establishments from Lake Ontario to Lake Champlain and from the New
York Thruway north to the St. Lawrence River. Throughout his life, Fred has
distinguished himself as a prominent civic leader and devoted public
servant both in the Village of Sidney and his current home of Adams Center,
New York. His passions led him to be especially active in the areas of
education and fire protection and safety.
Always a strong advocate of a quality education system, Fred believed education was a vital component of a healthy society. He served on the South Jefferson School board for 16 years, 11 of those years as president; 21 years on the BOCES board two years as president; and was a trustee of Jefferson Community College from 1969-1978 as an appointee of Governor Nelson Rockefeller.
